Use of archival records
Original records or their copies are accessible for research, study, cultural, official, bussines, personal and other purposes in the Archives' reading rooms. Records are accessible in accordance with the Protection of Documents and Archives and Archival Institutions Act, Reading Room Regulations, and the conditions pertaining to the record types and dates of restricted use which are set by the owners of the record groups and collections.
Archivalia of the Month
The 200th Anniversary of the Restoration of the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) and the Foundation of the Jesuit College in Ljubljana in 1596
On March 23, 1596 Pope Clement VIII founded the Jesuit college in Ljubljana to promote Catholic faith in the land. Unfortunately, the original papal charter has not been preserved, but several of the transcripts have survived. The oldest among them is the vidimus of the Graz nuncio Portia who commissioned it on January 12, 1597 to confirm authenticity of the transcript of the founding charter. This verified transcript is presented here as this month’s archivalia in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of the restoration of the Society of Jesus – Jesuits, which we are celebrating this August.
