Opening of the exhibition "Carniolan Provincial Privileges 1338-1736" at the Provincial Archives of Carinthia
On Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 6 pm, Provincial Archives of Carinthia in Klagenfurt (St. Ruprechter Strasse 7) will host an opening of the exhibition »Carniolan Provincial Privileges 1338-1736«. Prepared by the Archives of the Republic of Slovenia, the exhibition is a touring exhibition, which was first staged in the spring of 2008 at the Slovenian National Gallery and the Ljubljana Castle. Authors of the exhibition are Andrej Nared, Ph. D. and Jure Volčjak, design by Dane Petek.
17 exhibition panels display examples of more significant and visually interesting privileges, by means of which provincial dukes confirmed rights and privileges of provincial nobility and later also provincial estates in Carniola, Istria, and (Windic) March and Metlika. The privileges were considered some kind of Carniolan provincial constitution. Reproductions are equipped with accompanying text and additional illustrations, which will help visitors understand the time, place and context of such privileges.
The exhibition will be enriched by some of the original documents from archival holdings of the Carinthian provincial archives.
The exhibition will remain open until November 4, 2011.
